The first major project of “Steppe Arena” LLC, the Moson Urgoo (ice rink) is an indoor ice rink that meets the standard of the International Olympic Committee, and the groundbreaking ceremony was held today in the New Yarmag district. Tsagaan Puntsag, the project initiator, and the Chairman of the Board of “Steppe Link” LLC opened the ceremony presenting a speech.
President of Mongolia, Khaltmaa Battulga was invited to the ceremony and in his speech, he said, “the decision of the national companies to unite their resources to build this ‘Moson Urgoo’ is an exemplary work that proves in many ways that we, Mongolians, could achieve our goals if we unite. Under the auspices of the President of Mongolia, the Asian Children of Asia International Sports Games will be held in August 2020 in Ulaanbaatar. The East Asian Youth Games will also be held in Ulaanbaatar in 2023.”
He congratulated the national companies that initiated and invested in the construction of the “Moson Urgoo”, as part of the construction work for these sports games, and wished them success, and requested the palace to be opened on schedule.
The ice rink can be used for all sorts of sports, including figure skating, curling, short track speed skating. In addition to being available for year-round use, it will be an all-purpose facility. The ice rink can be turned into a ‘dry arena’ with special elastic covers which will make it possible to be used for basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, boxing, and other cultural events or concerts.
The Moson Urgoo has a capacity of 3,600 seats with a contemporary sound and lighting system which enables the arena to be used as a modern theater.
The project is jointly funded by top national companies of MAK Corporation, Steppe Link Holding LLC, UPC, and Achit Ikht Copper, and the right to invest and cooperate in the construction of the palace will be free to both businesses and individuals.
